Parenting is hard, y’all.

Welcome to Partly Sunny Parenting! The goal of this site is to encourage and connect like-minded parents to help them navigate the challenges of raising good citizens. Feminist parenting is all about encouraging your kids to be who they truly are without limiting them according to traditional gender roles and stereotypes. It’s also about teaching them empathy and respect for others, to value diversity, and to be inclusive.  It’s about teaching them the importance of consent, both for themselves and from others. It’s about teaching them to speak out about injustice. It’s about supporting those who have been traditionally marginalized or oppressed because of their gender, race, socioeconomic status, religion, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity or other identity.

Here you will find a variety of posts about feminist parenting challenges and wins, reviews of interesting toys, games, shows, movies, characters, etc… that line up with (or don’t) the goals expressed above, and hopefully in the future, interviews or posts from other like-minded parents. And mixed up in all that you’ll find posts on general parenting wins, funnies, or woes and either solutions or at least inspirations to help you get through those.

Parenting is hard, y’all! But we can get through this together and create a better world full of awesome kids and not a bunch of privileged bullies.

I’d love to hear from you so leave me a comment below or send me something through my comment page linked above.
